Varicose veins are twisted, enlarged veins. Any vein that is close to the skin's surface (superficial) can become varicosed. Varicose veins most commonly affect the veins in the legs.

Symptoms of varicose veins :

• Dark blue veins.
• Twisted Veins on Legs.
• Heavy Feeling in legs.
• Itching of Veins

Causes Of Varicose Veins:

• Obesity is one of the main reasons for varicose veins as heavy weight puts a high load on the legs.
• Age. Aging causes wear and tear on the valves in the veins that help control blood flow. Eventually, that wear causes the valves to allow some blood to flow back into the veins, where it collects.
• Pregnancy. During pregnancy, the blood volume in the body increases. This change supports the growing baby but can also enlarge the veins in the legs.
• Standing or sitting for long periods of time. Movement helps blood flow.

Complications of Varicose Veins :

• Bleeding: The veins may burst and its can cause bleeding.
• Occasionally, veins deep within the legs become enlarged and might cause leg pain and swelling.
• Painful ulcers can form on the skin near varicose veins, particularly near the ankles.

Stages Of Varicose Veins :

Stage 1 -  Spider Veins :

• Veins are 1mm to 5mm.
• Veins have pink, red colour.
• Sometimes it has pain.

Stage 2 -  Varicose Veins.

• In this stage veins are larger, twisty, ropy-like veins that bulge from under the surface of the skin.
• heaviness, itching, pain, and inflammation is observed.

Stage 3 - Leg Edema.

• Your ankles and legs swell from pooling blood in your lower legs causing pain and heaviness in your legs. This swelling could become severe enough to limit your mobility and impact your quality of life.

Stage 4 - Skin Changes

• Due to the chronic swelling skin can become dark brown or purple in color or skin can become thin dry or hardened. An itchy red rash may also appear, called venous stasis dermatitis.

Stages 5 - Leg Ulcers.

• When swollen legs and skin discoloration go untreated ulcers form due to inadequate blood flow in the veins that would normally provide nutrients to the skin to help it heal. The skill will heal either very slowly or not at all. 

LASER Treatment- Endovenous Laser Ablation treatment 

Endovenous laser varicose vein surgery is a procedure that uses heat from a laser to reduce varicose veins. Varicose veins are swollen, bulging veins that often happen on the thighs or calves. A laser is a device that sends a thin beam of radiation in the form of light. 

LASER surgery causes the veins to shrink and causes scar tissue within the vessel. This seals off the vein. Blood then flows through other nearby veins instead.
